Cole Anthony is officially taking his game overseas.
The former Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks guard has signed a one-year contract with Melbourne United of Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL), beginning a new chapter after spending six seasons in the NBA.
Anthony entered the league as the No. 15 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, selected by the Orlando Magic following a standout collegiate career at North Carolina. During his time in Orlando, he developed into a reliable scoring guard known for his ability to create offense, attack the basket, and provide energy off the bench.
Following his stint with the Magic, Anthony also spent time with the Milwaukee Bucks, giving him six seasons of NBA experience before deciding to continue his professional career internationally.
Melbourne United is adding a player with proven NBA talent as it looks to contend for an NBL championship. Anthony’s athleticism, scoring ability, and playmaking should make him one of the league’s most recognizable imports heading into the 2026-27 season.
Australia’s NBL has become one of the world’s premier basketball leagues outside the NBA, attracting former NBA veterans and rising international stars alike. Anthony now joins that growing list, hoping to make an immediate impact while continuing to showcase his game on the global stage.
At just 26 years old, Anthony’s move overseas doesn’t necessarily close the door on an NBA return. Strong performances in the NBL have helped several players earn another opportunity in the league, and Melbourne United could provide the perfect platform for the talented guard to revive his NBA aspirations.
For now, Anthony begins a fresh challenge in Australia, bringing six years of NBA experience to one of the world’s most competitive professional basketball leagues.
